Monsters

I think we've created a monster.  Well, not one exactly...more like countless furry (and feathered) monsters who are eating us out of house and home.

To illustrate my point, we had two errands to run yesterday after our walk: to the grocery store, and to Fleet Farm for birdseed (a.k.a. "Squirrel Food").  Fleet Farm was last, and at checkout the total was about double what we had just spent at the grocery store. Upon seeing this, Terry says, "Did we really just spend twice as much on critter food as on people food?!"  The checkout girl laughed out loud.  I just shook my head and handed her my check card.

But what's worse is that apparently we're not feeding them enough.  How is this possible?  They got to the thistle feeder again...nibbled a hole in the sock and dumped it out all over the ground (thanks a lot!).  I have to say, I've never seen the squirrels as ravenous as they are this year...do they know something we don't know about the winter to come?  GULP!  They're even starting to devour the pumpkins, for crying out loud.  The pumpkins!  And it's not even Halloween yet.

Is nothing sacred?!?

And then last night, they brought their larger, much furrier friends to the feeder...the DEER!  Not just one, like earlier this year...but many.  I didn't get a picture of them before Trooper's wild barking scared them off, white flags flying.  Good dog!

But oh, baby...we're in so much trouble...//

What's For Dinner Tonight?
Wait for it...wait for it...

LEFTOVERS!

What makes this worthwhile is that it's Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine's Restaurant Week this week and while we're being "good" cleaning out the fridge tonight, we're deciding which fun, new place we'll go to this week.

Top 3 choices:
1. Rinata (Italian...in Uptown)
2. Joe's Garage (American...downtown Minneapolis)
3. Cocina del Barrio (Mexican/Latin American...Edina)

Where, oh where shall we go?  Any suggestions?
